The Advanced Textile Programme offers ten young participants the opportunity to enhance their textile skills and experience, guided by internal and external experts.
Advanced Textile Program
This year the following talents took part in the program: Anusuya Krishnaswamy (IN), Carla Herrig (DE), Carolina Estrada (PE – UK), Hugh Finnerty (IE), Katharina Spitz (NL – DE), Laura Starup (DK), Mathilde Giraud (FR – UK), Noa Mac Donald (NL), Rosana Escobar (CO – NL) and Zora Aziza Weidkuhn (CH).
Following a month of preparation and research, the participants had the unique opportunity to experiment on the industrial machines in the lab with the product developers. They were mentored by artist Otobong Nkanga, Kvadrat’s design director Stine Find Osther and Kvadrat designer Nina Lolle. A lot of design research was done on site into layering, structure, contrast and manual interventions. The final works were presented in the TextielMuseum on 2 December, during the Threads of Innovation conference. In the spring of 2025, the development process and results will be shown to the public again during a new exhibition on the viewing gallery.
