Because at that moment, I questioned my own discomfort in light of her confidence

After the successful Antwerp edition of The Restore-rant, an intimate performance dinner by Michelle Woods and Anne Kluytenaar, the event was held in Garage Rotterdam in the summer of 2024. In different thematic rooms, visitors were invited to discuss topics that are not always easy to talk about in everyday life, such as gender, sexuality and self-image. For a bedroom where guests could lie on a bed and talk to each other in an intimate setting, Kluytenaar asked the TextielLab to embroider a mattress cover.

Inspired by the world she and her sister used to create on their parents’ bed, Kluytenaar wanted the design to spark the imagination and create a safe space to discuss sensitive topics. The texts are embroidered in partially illegible handwriting with viscose rayon yarn on a mattress cover measuring 140 by 200 cm.
